Malayalam Vidya Vedi (MVV)

Malayalam Vidya Vedi (MVV) is a Malayalam language learning school supported by the Canberra Malayalees Association (CMA), established to help children growing up overseas learn Malayalam language and stay connected to Kerala’s culture and heritage.

While many children born and raised here can understand Malayalam, they often find it difficult to speak or write the language. MVV aims to address this challenge by making language learning simple, engaging, and enjoyable for children.

Currently, 60 students are enrolled at MVV.

Pearce Community Hall – Every Saturday, 2:00–3:00 PM

MVV follows the Victorian School of Languages–approved curriculum, along with specially designed workbooks prepared by experienced teachers from the Canberra community. Our teachers regularly attend training programs and bring both experience and enthusiasm into the classroom.

Beyond classroom learning, MVV students actively participate in CMA cultural events such as Onam, Christmas celebrations, and cultural programs, providing them opportunities to use Malayalam confidently in real-life settings. MVV also organises an annual excursion to encourage bonding and friendship among students.

Parental support and the practice of speaking Malayalam at home play a vital role in a child’s language development. Malayalam Vidya Vedi is a strong and meaningful effort to pass our language and culture to the next generation.
